According to an article posted on USA Today, the “Better Business Bureau is warning customers about tap-to-pay scams that can let criminals steal money directly from your bank account.”
No need to panic, their article shares a few simple ways to help you determine if it’s a scam.
Be on the lookout for:
- A donation request from an organization you are unfamiliar with
- Don’t rush through the payment process, ask to see the screen you are tapping the payment through before completing your transaction
- Match the donation amount on their screen to the amount in which you agreed
- Match the organization’s name
- Do not hand over your phone/debit card to anyone you are unfamiliar with

If, by chance, something feels off – stop, take a deep breath, and think twice.
