We are pleased to introduce our Senior Credit Analyst, Derek Zona, who joined the bank  as a Senior Credit Analyst earlier this summer.

Derek attended Eastern Michigan University, earning a B.A. in Finance and has spent the last 10 years with Michigan Business Connection. Derek has gained experience from his beginnings as a Financial Analyst intern advancing his skills as a Financial Analyst, Credit Analyst and most recently as a Lead Credit Analyst.   He has supported 30+ credit unions and loan officers providing credit approval recommendations, credit analysis, and appropriate loan structure to ensuring regulatory compliance. He has also led ongoing commercial portfolio monitoring and mentored junior financial analysts and credit analysts.  

Derek is originally from the Novi/Wixom area and now resides in the Dexter Community with his wife and their French Bulldog, Henry.  He enjoys golfing, working on home improvement projects with his wife, and spending time with friends and family.  When asked what his favorite holiday was and why, he responded “Christmas, the nostalgia, spending time with family, gift giving and Christmas Movies,” are all reasons he most enjoys the Holiday Season.

He is a big Detroit sports fan and Michigan State fan.  Derek enjoys baking and can find him on Saturdays at the Dexter Farmer’s Market selling his “Not Your Average Dough” home bakery cookies.
